Aluminium

Definition of Aluminium

Aluminium is chemical elements with symbol Al and has atomic number 13. It is light Metal with silvery white color.Aluminium Metal is chemically reactive that native specimens are rare and limited. It is found combined in over 270 different minerals.

The Advantage of Aluminium

Aluminium is Light Metals have various advantage because it’s properties. Density is low compare to another metals, Light and Strong, Resist to Corrossion due to phenomenon of passivation, High Conductivity, Odorless, Non Flammable, and Recycable.

Alloy Type

Every Alloy Type has specific properties. The strength and durability of Alumimium alloys vary widely as the result of components of specific alloy, heat treatments, and manufacturing process. Common available Aluminium Alloy on the market were AA1100, AA3003, AA5050

Specification of Aluminium

  • Standardizations
Aluminium Alloys follow some standard like JIS, ASTM, or DIN. Each standard with respective designation number has specific range of properties and temper quality. JIS H4000, ASTM B209, DIN EN485-4 are popular designation example.
  • Properties
Aluminium properties divided into Chemical Composition Properties and Mechanical Physical Properties. Each property has range and limitation value according to the designation number.
  • Temper
Some typical mechanical properties are represented by Temper Quality or Temper Number like Tensile Strength, Yield, and % Elongation.
